Mentoring for private individuals
Joël Gessler offers 1:1 mentoring for private art enthusiasts who would like to learn more about the art market, addressing individual needs and passing on his knowledge. He also offers support and advice for people who want to financially support artists or art projects.
Coaching for companies
Joël Gessler advises companies on the strategic direction of their art activities, on building up or professionalizing their corporate collections and on the selection of artists for commissions and awards. He also offers lectures on specific topics of the art market to employees interested in art.
Mentoring for artists
Advice and mentoring for artists in the areas of sales, presentation, communication and cooperation with galleries. On behalf of Pro Helvetia Shanghai, he acted as a coach for a Chinese artist who was doing a residency in Switzerland.
Lessons for students
Joël Gessler has been teaching art and photography students at the Zurich F+F School of Art and Design on the subject of the art market since 2022. He covers the basics, networks, galleries, auctions, collections and case studies. He also discusses portfolio management, pricing, administration and organizational tips.
Participation in juries
As a jury member for competitions, art and architecture projects and award ceremonies, Joël Gessler supports the public sector and companies in the selection of artists or artworks for exhibitions, project realizations or acquisitions.
2023, for example, Joël Gessler served as a jury member for the annual «zentral!» exhibition at the Lucerne Art Museum. For this exhibition, 29 artists from Central Switzerland were selected from 210 submissions to present a work of art in the group exhibition. A cash prize and an exhibition prize were also awarded.
